Celebrating Small Victories

It's been a long time since I've posted anything on here. Life's been busy and fun. In my first entry, I mentioned having that feeling where I'm barely accomplishing everything I have to do, but finding it hard to do the things I need to. Well, that feeling hasn't changed too much lately, but I have been enjoying life a bit, so that's a good feeling. In the beginning of August, our church had our annual Vacation Bible School. It's always a fun, but tiring and busy week for us. It is one of the biggest labors of love that my husband, and myself help to put on. I was in charge of decorating our building this year. Here are just a couple of photos of our awesome building decor. We usually go all out on the decorations.
Our antique clock in our foyer "train station."

I drew and painted this by hand. It's quite huge.

On another note, I have been enjoying my garden a bit more. I've neglected it a bit while I was pregnant last year, and then right after the baby was born, but as of late, I've at least been watering my plants more regularly. I was so excited to have so many hydrangea blooms inspite of my prior neglect. Here is a picture of some of my lovely flowers.

And another small accomplishment worth mentioning. I enjoy sewing a bit, but garment alterations are also often necessary for me to do, especially since I am a petite 4'11". The list of clothes I need to alter is a bit longer than I wish right now. I've decided I'm gonna take a couple of things to my dry cleaner to help ease my burden. However, I did finally finish one small project. I lengthened the hem on a dress of mine that I bought earlier this year. Usually, I have to shorten hemlines, but suprisingly, I had to lengthen it this time. It's important to me to wear modest clothing, and sometimes, a little extra work is needed in order to make that happen. Anyway, here's a picture of me wearing my dress.

Well, our summer vacation is winding down. We just enjoyed a fun vacation to Disneyland. I'm now in recovery mode, but also making time to make sure my kids enjoy the last bits of time before school starts up again. I'm enjoying not doing the usual grind, but I'm looking forward to a fresh start as a new school year is upon us. My "new normal" is just around the corner. I can feel it emerging!
